Arbin History |
|
|
The Arbin Corporation, doing business as Arbin Instruments, began in 1991 when company
president, Dr. John Zhang, came up with the idea for a company
to develop and manufacture hi-tech battery testing equipment.
Zhang set to work inventing the equipment for which he saw a
need and the market quickly
followed. Steady growth in both
domestic and international markets has raised Arbin Instruments,
based in College Station, to undisputed leadership in the U.S.
battery/fuel cell testing equipment market and has made it one
of the fastest-growing competitors overseas.
Arbin Instruments has one
of the most impressive client bases in the industry with some of
the most reputable and well-respected companies in over thirty
countries around the world. Battery companies such as Duracell,
Energizer, Eveready, Rayovac, and Saft have bought Arbin systems
for their battery testing needs. Other customers consist of
automotive manufacturers, consumer-electronic manufacturers,
universities, and government institutions. Arbin has
played an important role in establishing the technology pathway
for the battery testing industry. Arbin Instruments leadership
firsts include: first to apply potentiostat/galvanostat circuitry and functionality;
first to apply multiple current ranges into a single channel;
first to introduce a high-speed-pulse testing device; and first
to introduce an integrated humidifier for humidifying fuel cell
gas streams.
Innovation in technology
continues to pave the way for Arbin relentless effort to offer
the best testing solutions. Responding to the growing interests
in fuel cell research and commercialization, Arbin made a major
milestone in early 2001 with the delivery of its first
integrated fuel cell testing system. Significant advancements in
that area have been accomplished since that time, particularly
with the invention of the proprietary dew point humidification
technology to humidify fuel cell gas streams.
Arbin today designs,
manufactures and markets testing systems for energy storage and
energy conversion devices for worldwide distribution.
Now in its third College Station location, Arbin
Instruments, which began in 1991 with five employees, has a
staff of around one hundred people, a large percentage of who
are electrochemical and electronic engineers, as well as
computer scientists. Arbin testing systems can be used to
conduct various electrochemical tests on batteries,
supercapacitors and fuel cells; offering wide current, voltage,
and power ranges. These testing systems can be used in various
applications in R&D, quality control, and production.
New Arbin technology is
outstripping current competition in functionality, accuracy, and
reliability. Research and development is intensely focused on
the Total System Solution, providing turnkey custom-designed,
stand-alone, or in-line systems. With the invention of the
world’s most efficient and compact power electronics with linear
technology, the company introduces its millennium plug and play
modular system design that has become the industry’s standard
worldwide. Plug and play channel boards can be added or
replaced in moments by users with virtually zero system down
time. Stackable modular design makes system expansion feasible
and easy.
Innovative engineering and
breakthroughs in both circuit board technology and highly
reliable, high-performance software have fueled Arbin’s
continued growth in the global marketplace. The company’s annual
sales have increased dramatically since 1993 and the company has
expanded to a 25,000-square-foot facility at 762 Peach Creek Cut
Off Road. Its newest facility, which it opened in December 2001,
houses all administrative, manufacturing, research and
development, marketing and sales, and personnel functions. The
company also has offices in Beijing and Tianjin, China, as well
as representatives in eight other foreign countries.
Along with being a U.S.
Small Business Administration selected exporter of the year for
1996 and 1997, Arbin Instruments is a two-time winner of the
Newman Award as one of the 10 fastest-growing businesses in the
Brazos Valley for 1996 and 1997. In its more than 10 years in
business, the company has experienced dramatic growth in five.
The company’s philosophy
is to continue to develop the most responsive, highest quality
and most technically advanced products with superior customer
service and technical support. Arbin Instruments believes that
honesty and integrity are important principles of conducting
business. Business relationships must be fair and of value to
all sides. Quality, reliability and mutual confidence are
essential to goodwill among both new and old friends in the
marketplace. |
